Splurge vs Steal of the Day

With the emphasis on the lower lash line in fashion as of late

I thought I would do a splurge vs steal of lower lash line mascara!

The SPLURGE!
Givenchy's PhenomenEyes Mascara, $30

The innovative brush promises the ultimate definition for eyelashes, especially the lower lash line.

The STEAL:
Clinique's Bottom Lash Mascara

Also a tiny applicator to really grab those small lashes and define them
$10 at Macy's Clinique Counters

The SUPER STEAL:
I didn't want to leave out Givenchy's competition in the brush design, L'Oreal's Telescopic Explosion Mascara, $7 at drug stores

I've tried the Givenchy product and the application was so easy and the product was amazing, but the $30 price tag is just unreasonable in my opinion!  (if it was worth it, I would be fine with the price)

The L'Oreal product was a HUGE disappointment, the wand was too long and the brush head was too clumpy, it really needed those tiny fibers to be longer to grab the lashes better, like the Givenchy

The nice option with the Clinique, is that $10 is a reasonable amount to pay for a 3-month life span product, like mascara.  The brush was not as nice as the Givenchy product, but it did coat the lashes, and its fragrance-free and hypo-allergenic, a nice bonus for the sensitive eye area!

The winner is the Clinique "Bottom Lash" Mascara!
Its like a set of falsies on your lower lash line!

Clumpy Mascara...A Trend?!

Did I really read it right?  "Clumpy" mascara is actually a trend?!

Well, its true, but not nasty clumpy lashes, such as these:

But rather the "Twiggy" mascara that is defined, where sections of lashes "clump" together to create a dramatic eye

In fact, this bolder lash look is being emphasized on the lower lash line as well!

Made possible with new featured mascara products that tend to only the lower lash line, such as Givenchy's PhonemonEyes, sold at Sephora for $30

This trend is catching on in the false eyelash market as well, with popular brands now offering the thicker "clumped together" lash line

How about these false lashes from Illemasqua, sold at Sephora

Celebrities such as Kim K

Christine Aquilara

and Jennifer Lopez

Note Jen in her "On the Floor" video from this year

are straying away from the perfectly defined lashes to the thicker, and bolder lash line...

so what do you think...clump the lashes together or are you still into the ultra defined look of yester-year?
