The Ponytail - not just for kids!

My awesome niece Samantha requested I do a blog on hairstyles, and I am going to have to vote 'the ponytail' as this season's hot hair trend!

My favorite way is the 'messy ponytail'

To get that texture, try a texturizing cream like Fekkai Bouffant Lifting and Texturizing Cream
http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=prod2149569
$24 at Ulta and Lord & Taylor
FekkaiBouffant Lifting and Texturizing Spray Gel
I also love the classic 'sleek' ponytail

Try a smoothing product and blow dry hair down with a round brush
Try Blow 'Straight to the Point' emulsion
http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod1450340
Also at Ulta, and for $21
Blow Hair CareStraight to the Point Straightening Emulsion
I am a HUGE fan of Fekkai Silky Smooth Finishing Serum $23
FekkaiSilky Straight Smooth Finish Serum
They also make a pink version for color-treated hair that protect your color from fading in sunlight!

For a night out, try the 'bump ponytail'

Texturize the hair and tease using this type of brush:

The Spornette Little Tease for $3 at Sally Beauty Supply

These types of brushed help you gather the section and they tease without that ratty look that a comb gives.

Smooth back the hair with this brush and secure with ponytail holder.

I like the no-slip ones from Scunci:
Scunci Elastics 34pk

and hey-nothing wrong with cheating a little, try the Bump-Its

You can find them at Sally's, Wegmans, and most drugstores!

And FINALLY, the comeback of the side ponytail!!  One of my fav looks (and some of you were picking on me for this last year!)
I like to use a 1inch curling iron to get bounce and wave.  Tease and smooth with the teasing brush and smooth hair to the side and secure.  Use a glossing cream to create shine.  LOVE!
