That's right, it's that time! Time for PUMPKIN EVERYTHING!
But that can be a GOOD thing when it comes to beauty!!!
How pumpkins can make you beautiful!
SEEDS
Pumpkin seeds are an excellent source of:
-Vitamin E
- Zinc
-Anti-inflammatory Healing
-Anti-Bacterial Treatment
You can eat pumpkin seeds on yogurt, cereal or in trail mix, or you can get pumpkin seed oil and add it to food for anti-acne and moisturizing properties! How genius!
FLESH
the flesh of a pumpkin can be pureed to give you an incredible facial that will exfoliate and even give your skin a books of sun protection for the short term!
YES! it was found that women who consumed pumpkin flesh or used it topically, had a higher UV tolerance for a 12 hour period! Hows THAT for anti-oxidant protection?!
Not only that but a homemade pumpkin facial mask can deliver a subtle glycolic peel that will actually exfoliate and nourish skin! (very similar to a papaya mask, see my recent homemade beauty video post about how to make a papaya face mask!)
PUMPKIN FACE MASK RECIPE"
1/4 CUP of pumpkin flesh
1 TSP Honey
1/4 TSP Apple Cider Vinegar or Cranberry Juice
Blend together, apply to face, leave on 10 minutes
(I skip the egg!)
PUMPKIN TREATS
I WISH eating pumpkin treats was good for your beauty and health, but well, it just ISN'T!
Facts: a Medium DD Pumpkin Coffee is 260 calories
a Pumpkin Muffin from Starbucks is 360 calories
What a bummer
My 2 Fav pumpkin products during the Fall (and nearly year-round) seasons is:
Michael Todd Organics Pumpkin Mask $28
which is a glycolic mask that peels away that top layer of flaky pore and line causing residue right off, and I LOVE IT (use weekly, see last week's blog post for more details)
Philosophy Pumpkin Pie Body Products
(starting at $16.50 at Sephora and Ulta)
They smell delish and are very soothing to the skin!
There you have it, pumpkin is BACK - try not to be too depressed that the lime and coconut scents of the summer are on clearance
